Directed by Pat Collins, “SONG OF GRANITE” is an elegant, charming & uplifting portrayal of one of the true greats of Traditional Irish singing, the incomparable Joe Heaney.

Heaney’s was a musical life, his upbringing in the west of Ireland, and the rich traditions there of local myth, storytelling and fables, forming his unswerving path in becoming a legendary, pivotal figure in the landscape of Irish music. His emergence as a gifted artist, however, came at a major personal cost, as “SONG OF GRANITE” explores the people in his story, and tells of a man whose art remains after a life of difficulty and instability.  Featuring extensive and captivating performances from Trad & Sean Nos (Irish singing) artists old and new, all influenced by his legacy, and lovingly shot in atmospheric black and white, “SONG OF GRANITE” is an intoxicating & distinct portrait of Heaney's life and roots,  whilst equally serving as a marvelous exploration of the history of Irish music and song.”
