Banyan Puppet Theatre - The Fisherman and the Mermaid

Karen Torley of Banyan Theatre and Derry-based dancer Zoe Ramsay developed and perform this beautiful new children’s theatre work, combining puppetry, dance, music and storytelling for audiences aged 4–11.

The Story
When a lonely Fisherman encounters a Mermaid, he is whisked away on a magical journey beneath the waves. However, this is more than just an underwater adventure; the Fisherman must discover the truth behind the ocean's tears and find out why the sea has become so sad.

This environmental tale is brought to life through a rich blend of:

  • Puppetry: Handcrafted characters that breathe life into the story. A Fisherman,  a Mermaid and a sassy seagull lead the story along with Shadow puppets and object Theatre

  • Dance & Movement: Capturing the fluid beauty of the sea.

  • Original Music: An immersive soundscape that guides the journey.

  • Live Storytelling: Engaging the imagination with our original tale.

Suitable for ages 4+ / approx 45 mins

 Tickets £7.50 / £26 Family of 4 (1 Adult & 3 Kids or 2 Adults & 2 Kids)
